Overview
This 3-day camp at WinMan Trails is designed for riders ages 13-17 with NICA or racing experience who are eager to take their skills to the next level. Limited to just 32 riders, participants will ride alongside professional mountain bikers from across the country.
Riders with racing or NICA high school mountain bike experience, and who have a passion to get better, will be a great fit for this camp. Riders will train at paces and riding levels appropriate for them, however, the camp may be intense for novice riders with 6+ hours of riding each day.
Coach Brian Matter
WinMan Jr. MTB Camp is led by Brian Matter who grew up in southeast Michigan riding the Potawatomi Trail. He turned that passion into a successful career of racing professionally in both Mountain Bike and Cyclocross. He’s represented the USA in both disciplines at the World Championships and has competed in multiple World Cup races throughout the world. Brian has been coaching professionally since 2008 and in 2023 partnered with WinMan to bring his Jr. MTB Camps to our trails for the first time. His vision is to provide more opportunities for kids to find the same passion he found for the bike and the sport of Mountain Biking!
Lodging
New for 2026, campers will stay locally at the North Lakeland Discovery Center, located just four miles from WinMan. Each day, campers will commute by bike along the Heart of Vilas Paved Bike Trail, riding to and from WinMan as part of the experience.
Campers will sleep in bunk-style cabins, each with its own restroom, and enjoy meals together in the main lodge. The Discovery Center grounds offer plenty to explore, including hiking trails, a campfire circle, a basketball court, a swimming beach with canoes and kayaks, a nature playground, and beautiful gardens. Cabins will be divided by gender.
For those driving to camp, free parking will be available at the Discovery Center.
Camp Schedule
Wednesday, August 12
- 4:00-7:00pm: Arrival at Discovery Center at your convenience
- Dinner will NOT be provided so please have already eaten or arrive with dinner
- 7:00 - 9:00pm: Orientation and Welcome Tour to the Discovery Center
- 10:00pm: Lights out
Thursday / Friday, August 13-14
- 8:00-9:00am: Breakfast
- 9:00-9:30am: Bike to WinMan
- 9:30-4:00pm: Riding, Education and Lunch at WinMan
- 4:00-4:30pm: Bike back to Discovery Center
- 5:30pm: Dinner
- 6:30-8:30: Choice of evening activities (basketball, swimming, canoeing, hiking, etc)
- 8:30pm: Campfire with Smores
- 10:00pm: Lights Out
Saturday, August 15
- 8:00am: Breakfast
- 9:00-9:30am: Pack Bags and Get Organized
- 9:30-10:00am: Bike to WinMan
- 12:00-12:30pm: Bike back to Discovery Center
- 12:30pm: Lunch
- 1:00-2:00pm: Pick-up at Discovery Center

Cancellation Policy
Refunds of $625 (reduced due to processing fees and administrative time) will be provided if made before Sunday July 12th. Cancellations made after that date are allowed given medical cause and must be accompanied by a doctors note.
